How It Works Impactful Giving in Three Easy Steps
Discover Local Causes
Members nominate deserving nonprofits from Southern Colorado. At each event, we hear inspiring 3-5 minute pitches from three randomly selected and vetted organizations, giving you a firsthand look at the incredible work being done in our community. Nominate a nonprofit.
Cast Your Vote
After the brief presentations, every couple (or individual) in attendance casts one vote for the nonprofit they feel will make the best use of our collective gift. It’s a simple process that puts the power of choice directly in your hands.
Create Immediate Impact
The votes are collected, and the winner is announced at the end of the evening. We present a check for the total amount raised right then and there, allowing you to see the powerful and immediate result of our shared generosity.

Testimonials
Hear what our participants and nonprofits are saying.
For those of us who’ve lived in the Springs for years, we all have our list of what makes it such a great place to live—favorite hikes, go-to restaurants and brewpubs, and the must-see spots for out-of-town guests. Couples Who Care adds something new to that list: a quarterly, one-hour social gathering that offers an engaging introduction to local nonprofits making a real impact in our community. It might just be the best happy hour in town!
We have been a member of Couples Who Care for likely well over a decade. We most enjoy getting to meet different people from all our our city who care about it like we do. We’ve made good friendships and met outside of Couples Who Care as well. We’ve found most valuable getting to hear from an incredible variety of non-profits, benefiting so many different residents of all ages and backgrounds. This knowledge increases our pride in our city and our belief that any person can make this world a better place. It’s truly a group like non other and such a simple, easy way to make a big difference in non-profits.
My wife Patti and I have been involved with CWC for over three years. Hearing from the multitude of nonprofits in the Springs community who are doing amazing work across many different areas has been rewarding and a real “feel-good” experience. Personally, one of the charities that presented (Sleep In Heavenly Peace (SHP) who build/deliver beds to kids that don’t have a bed) made such an impact on me that I have been delivering beds for SHP for the last few years. We have told many of our friends about CWC and they have donated and attended the events with us. CWC is a great organization run by wonderful, caring folks. We have thoroughly enjoyed CWC and plan to continue our support in the coming years.
How we Started An Idea Born from Community
In 2013, a simple question sparked a powerful movement: how can we make giving back to our local community easy, impactful, and something we can all do together?
Couples Who Care began as a small group of friends looking for a more direct and meaningful way to support the nonprofits doing essential work in our own backyard. We wanted to strip away the complexities of fundraising and create something simple. The idea was to combine our individual donations into one large, transformative gift. Our journey has been marked by steady, community-driven growth.

Your Questions, Answered
What is a typical event like?
Our events are designed to be fun, efficient, and inspiring, all packed into exactly one hour. The evening begins with a brief welcome from our host venue, followed by an inspiring update from the previous quarter’s winning nonprofit on how our funds have made a difference. Then, we hear quick, five-minute stories from three new nominated organizations. After the presentations, you cast your vote, and we announce the winner and present the collective check right on the spot. We respect your time and always finish promptly, but you are always welcome to stay longer to socialize and connect with others.
Can I check out an event before I sign up to be a member?
Of course! We encourage you to come and see what we’re all about with no pressure to give. Our events are a great way to learn about local causes and meet new people. If you feel inspired to donate, that’s wonderful, but it’s not required to attend.
What does 'couples' mean? Can I come alone?
We welcome everyone. ‘Couples’ can be romantic partners, friends, family members, or colleagues. And yes, you are absolutely welcome to attend on your own. Our goal is to bring our community together, however you define it.
How much are members expected to donate?
Couples Who Care’s required minimum donation is $100 per couple per quarter. We welcome and encourage larger contributions if you are able. Every dollar makes a difference, and we are grateful for your support.
How are the three presenting nonprofits chosen?
All nominations submitted by our members are collected, and three eligible nonprofits are randomly drawn from a hat prior to each event. This ensures the process is fair and introduces our community to a wide variety of local causes. Click here to nominate a nonprofit.
What happens to the two nonprofits that don't win?
While only one organization receives the main prize, the other two gain valuable exposure to a room full of passionate local givers. Many of our members are inspired to make independent, personal donations to the runners-up after hearing their stories. Nonprofits can be nominated again for future events, however the ones who win are not eligible to be showcased for one year after they receive their check.
How do I actually make my donation?
All donations are processed securely through our affiliate partner, the Pikes Peak Community Foundation. When you click to donate, you will be directed to their portal to complete the transaction, ensuring every contribution is professionally managed. The Pikes Peak Community Foundation will also issue the official tax receipt for your records.
Can I still donate if I can't make it to the event?
Absolutely! You can donate anytime through the links on our website or in our newsletter. You don’t have to be present to contribute to the collective gift and make an impact.
How is my donation 100% passed through?
We are fortunate to have our operational costs covered by a generous grant from the Lane Foundation. This means we don’t need to use any portion of your donation for website hosting, event space, or other expenses. 100% of what you give goes directly to the cause.
